7  Scriptures To Overcome Worry

Worry is when we allow our mind to focus on difficulty or trouble, and we become anxious or fearful over actual or potential problems rather than trusting in God. Not worrying would be focusing on God rather than difficulty, problems, or trouble. When we worry, we exalt the problem when we should be exulting God over the situation!

Example: I know I lost my job, BUT I trust in God; he will never leave or forsake me! Greater is He who lives inside of me than he that lives in the world. Though I lost my job, I know He is an all-knowing God and would never put more on me than I can bear!

Just because we don’t worry does not mean we ignore the problem. It means we know and trust that God is bigger than any problem. We keep our eyes focused on Jesus so we don’t let problems consume us! Trust me, as simple as it sounds, this can be difficult to do while sitting in the situation. However, we must increase our faith and remember who we serve and belong to! This is something WE MUST train ourselves to do.

The Bible says we are to take every thought captive, so I want to share some scriptures you can use when you become overwhelmed with difficulty or trouble. Memorize these verses and use them to pray over yourself strategically. This might take some effort, but we can take our thoughts captive and change our thinking in time.

Here Are 7  Scriptures You Can Use To Overcome Worry:

Matthew 6:34 (NASB)So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:27 (NASB)And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

Luke 12:29 (NASB)And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying.

Luke 10:41-42 (NASB)41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Luke 12:25 (NASB)And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span?

Philippians 4:6 (NASB)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

1 Peter 5:7 (NASB)casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

If you feel like you are being overcome by worry, take it to prayer with the Word of God!

Prayer Example:

“Father, your Word tells me not to be anxious about anything but to make my request known to You. I’m faced with_________________, and I know that worry cannot add a single hour to my life; help me to cast my cares on you. I know I serve a God that is greater than ___________, so I lay the troubles of this world at your feet and ask you to have your way. In Jesus name, Amen!”

This is amazing! Often times in singles feels left out but it’s great to see you encouraging others. I pray God continues to pour in you His wisdom to reach out to others.
